Initial crews arrived at 8:08 PM. First arriving fire officer confirmed the odor of ammonia in the air and immediately upgraded the assignment to include our mutual aid partners along with the Monroe County Hazardous Materials Team. After a thorough investigation it was determined that a tank containing ammonia had an unexpected pressure buildup, which activated the pressure relief valve, releasing a small amount of ammonia through its normal operation. At no time was there ever any health concerns in the immediate area, however, out of an abundance of caution, the ice rink and adjacent properties were evacuated.

There were no injuries or reports of illness to civilians or responders. At 11:45 PM. the facility was released to the building owner.
