Tomasz Marian Kaczowka was a first generation Polish-American and the youngest of three brothers. Extremely proud of his heritage Firefighter Kaczowka visited Poland often where he loved seeing his friends and family. Firefighter Kaczowka will forever be remembered by anyone who knew him as the energenic, fun-loving carefree "kid" who had an infectious smile that could brighten the room. He loved to play jokes on his two older brothers and learned an extraordinary work ethic from his parents.
Firefighter Kaczowka joined West Webster through our explorer post at the age of 14 where he eagerly became involved in the training and learning the trade that he loved. During his time he also attended the Eastern Monroe Career Center in Rochester where he would eventually earn both his Certified First Responder and Emergency Medical Technician certifications. At age 18 Tomasz joined the department while continuing his studies at Monroe Community College in the field of Fire Safety. In November of 2011 Firefighter Kaczowka continued his devotion to serving the public by starting a career at the City of Rochester/Monroe County Emergency Communications Department. Firefighter Kaczowka became a fire dispatcher working the afternoon shift from 4pm until midnight dispatching Fire and EMS units throughout the City of Rochester and Monroe County.
