Past Chief Michael J. Chiapperini

Born: April 1st, 1969

Last Alarm: December 24th, 2012

Michael J. Chiapperini (Chip as he was known by friends, and the community) was born on April 1st, 1969 and grew up in Webster with his loving parents, Marcia and John, and sister, Michelle.  Chief Chiapperini was the father of three and a dedicated servant to both his family and his community, serving as both volunteer firefighter and Webster Police Lieutenant.  Through his years of public service Chief Chiapperini served many different roles.  Within the police department, which he worked for 19 years, he rose thru the ranks starting as Patrol Officer, followed by Investigator, Sergeant and finally Lieutenant.  Chief Chiapperini was trained in many areas of emergency response and served as a representative of the Webster Police Department on many committees.  Chief Chiapperini was a member of our department for over 25 years.  His career with us started when he joined the explorer post where he served for several years until he was of age to become a active member of our department.  Once in the department Chief Chiapperini rose through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, 2nd and 1st Assistant Chief before finally serving as Chief of the Department from 2001 to 2002.  After serving as Chief he took on the responsibility of Advisor for our Explorer Post where Chief Chiapperini was able to mold and teach our future members.  Always willing to help, no matter where it led him, Chief Chiapperini volunteered for many of the deployments that our department went on.  As recent as October 2012 Chief Chiapperini was deployed to Long Island, NY to assist in the recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the east coast.

In statements made about Chief Chiapperini in the dedication of the memorial, "Courageous, determined, outgoing, humorous, and generous are qualities that Mike posessed.  He adored his family, would always help a friend in need, and was a true public servant."
