Firefighter William C. Bostian
Born: February 10th, 1943
Last Alarm: August 6th, 2005
William Bostian, known around the firehouse as Bill, was born on February 10th, 1943 in Pittsford, New York. Firefighter Bostian was a devoted family man who took pride in his firehouse family and community as well. Growing up as a teen he worked at Welsher Fruit Farm where he met Linda Welsher, his future bride. Married on September 7th, 1963 Bill and Linda settled and lived in West Webster, where they raised their four children. Firefighter Bostian was a devoted father who was always involved in his kids lives, from scout leader to baseball coach and even as a medic for their Pop Warner Football team. Firefighter Bostian was also the proud grandfather of four grandchildren which he enjoyed showing around the firehouse. Firefighter Bostian worked at Xerox for more than 30 years.
Firefighter Bostian joined West Webster in 1977 and during his time in the department he held many both civil and line office positions, from Steward to Captain. In his later years Firefighter Bostian took on different roles both inside West Webster and throughout the County that helped the organization in many ways. Firefighter Bostian acted as Firehouse Photographer documenting some of our bigger calls and events, member of the Fire Police (which he rose to the rank of Lieutenant), Vice President of the Firemans Association, Vice President of the Monroe County Volunteer Fireman's Association, and also a member of the Webster Police Department Special Police. In 2005 Firefighter Bostian was bestowed the honor of Firefighter of the Year for West Webster.
Firefighter Bostian will always be remembered for the smile he had on his face and the pride he showed for the organization. He was so humble that it was only in his passing that members of his family and the firehouse family learned of all the things that he did for others he knew and the community as a whole.
