The elected line officers for
this Association are - Chief, First
Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief, six
Captains and six Lieutenants. Each of these
officers has a one-year term of office.
There is no limit to the number of terms to
which they can be elected.
The Chief
- By municipal law the Chief has full
responsibility over the apparatus and over
all members at the fire or emergency scene
and at any other time that they are on
actual duty. He has disciplinary power over
any member not performing his or her duties.
To be eligible for nomination to the office
of Chief, the candidate must first have held
the office of Captain in the West Webster
Firemen's Association. The Board of Fire
Commissioners must accept the Chief's
election prior to the Chief taking office.
The First and Second
Assistant Chiefs
- These officers perform all the duties of
the Chief in his absence. The 1st & 2nd
Chief's are assigned specific areas of
responsibility by the Chief, such as
Training, Maintenance, Records & Personnel.
To be eligible for nomination to these
offices, the candidates must have held the
office of Captain in the West Webster
Firemen's Association.
Captains
- These six officers perform various duties
as specified by any of the Chiefs, at fires,
emergency scenes and at the firehouse. Only
members with five years of active service or
those having held a previous line office
position are eligible to be nominated for
the office of Captain. At least one of the
years of active service must have been with
the West Webster Firemen's Association.
Lieutenants
- These six officers perform various duties
as specified by any of the Chiefs, at fires,
emergency scenes and at the firehouse. Only
members with three years of active service
are eligible for nomination to the office of
Lieutenant. At least one of the years of
active service must have been with the West
Webster Firemen's Association.
The candidates for any of the
line officers must also meet the
requirements as set forth by the West
Webster Fire District. These additional
requirements are the completion of the
Incident Command series of classes. |
