Celebrating our little friend Anthony!

June 15, 2019

WWFD had the privilege to be a part of a very special event today. Members geared up and brought 3 trucks to be a part of a surprise for a very special young boy, Anthony!

Anthony is 3 years old and suffers from leukemia and down's syndrome, although after visiting with him, he doesn't let that slow him down one bit. He has a smile and personality that melts your heart. Anthony's surprise today, was a playhouse, built by hand and delivered to their house.

Our very own Assistant Chief, Brian Kelly, works for Manning Squires Hennig (MSH) and have been involved with the ACE Mentor Program for close to a year now. ACE is an after school program that introduces high school students to careers in architecture, construction management, engineering and other disciplines. They have taught classes on concrete construction, participated in a footing forming competition and provided sponsorship for their annual graduation and fundraiser event.

Throughout the program, ACE students participate in the building of large wooden playhouses. Each house has a very specific design (spaceship, train, boat, etc.) and upon completion is donated to a child with a terminal illness.

Today was Anthony's day, a well deserved gift to a great kid.
Thank you to all involved for letting us be a part of your special day!
