Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Lieutenant Brian Zimmer
January 5, 2018

On Friday January 5, West Webster was alerted for a possible stove fire. First arriving Chief had heavy smoke from the building and declared a working fire. Crews encountered heavy fire from a first floor apartment while search crews rescued several people from the building. Due to inclement weather and frigid temperatures, a second alarm was requested. The outside temperature was 2 degrees with a wind chill of -25 degrees. During the incident, one firefighter was transported to RGH with a back injury. West Webster and mutual aid units remained onscene for approximately 3.5 hours.

West Webster was assisted onscene by Webster FD, Brighton FD, Laurelton FD, Ridge Culver FD, Penfield FD, Webster Ambulance, Northeast Quadrant ALS, Webster PD, and Monroe County Fire Bureau. West Webster would also like to thank all of the agencies that provided coverage during the incident: East Rochester, Laurelton, and Webster. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The members of West Webster would like to remind residents about the importance of making sure that hydrants are shoveled out.
